“This is a life-changing diagnosis and it's too important to rush”
If you want a one and done, 1 hour, wham bam thank you ma'am ADOS/ADHD assessment then avoid Dr Anindita Sarkar. Walk out the door, don't look back... she cares too much to give you a quick assessment.
I did a lot of research into who I wanted to do my ADOS/ADHD assessment and there were a couple of private practices that could have seen me sooner but I chose not to go with them and to wait a couple of weeks longer to be seen by Dr Sarkar. I even travelled from West Yorkshire to London (at my own expense via train) especially to be assessed by her.
I have a few reasons for this. The first reason is because of her experience and her qualifications. The second reason is because Dr Sarkar is dyslexic. I've hyper-focused on neurodiversity and I learned a bit about dyslexia. People with dyslexia have the following strengths:
Good problem solvers.
Creative.
Observant.
High levels of empathy.
Excellent big-picture thinkers.
Good at making connections.
Strong narrative reasoning.
Three-dimensional thinking.
The third reason is because when I spoke to her on the phone it was clear that not only was she was caring and compassionate but she was firm and not easily bulldozed over. I need that as I can overstep boundaries especially when I'm struggling.
The fourth reason is because I stalked her LinkedIn and every single one of her posts resonates with me. She is a good person with good morals and values.
The fifth and final reason is because she gets it. She really really REALLY gets it. Her words to me were 'This is a life changing diagnosis and it's too important to rush'. Dr Sarkar is passionate, she puts her all into each individual, and most importantly (to me) she cares and she really does understand.
I'm so glad that Dr Sarkar is the one doing my assessment because I feel safe with her.

“I regard myself as very lucky to have found her”
I was lucky enough that, when I was ready to begin looking for assistance from a psychologist, I was living in walking distance from Anindita's practice, and she was one of the first people I approached for support. Initially I was looking for someone to both help monitor me on a week to week basis while undergoing psychiatric treatment - medication and other interventions - and provide therapy on top of my other treatments, to give me the best chance for recovering from my depression and other issues.
As part of the many avenues of treatment I was pursuing, Anindita played a very significant role in supporting me as I slowly began to recover. After recovering enough to slowly taper off the psychiatric care I was receiving, I and Anindita continued to work together on my issues - putting her slightly in the position of having to switch roles with me, as my situation developed.
From an almost... critical support role, coping with my problems as they flared up on a near week to week basis, the care Anindita has provided has evolved across a range of other roles, from life coach to confidant to classical cognitive behavioural therapist through to extremely challenging life phases that included some returns to to that critical support.
I regard myself as very lucky to have found her. She has a wide range of experiences to call on, and a very large toolbox of psychologist's skills which she's used with me in a very cut-and-fit bespoke fashion to suit the evolving situations I've been in.
It is also worth mentioning that I'm an autistic adult, and while I prefer to be circumspect about my specific situation, it is worth mentioning that I'm living on my own for the first time, and Anindita's support has made that challenge far more approachable for me..
In short, Dr. Anindita Sarkar is a professional you can trust.

“Over the last year or so, I've been having therapy sessions with Anindita, and from the very first one, I found her so easy to talk to, always without judgement, but always reassuring.”
My sessions to some extent were about my ADHD pre and post-diagnosis, and helping me understand how to accept, work with, and manage my challenges, including doable day-to-day strategies, and taking care of my physical health as well as my mental health. A common phrase I remember is “do the opposite of how you feel” i.e., if you feel like just crashing on the couch, go for a walk or do some exercise. I didn’t necessarily like hearing it, but it worked, and I always felt a lot better afterward!
But we also talked about my work, and Anindita offered helpful strategies for things such as my imposter syndrome, or helping me see a different way of coming from a point of curiosity when trying to support others - what a lightbulb moment that was! I now feel enabled to have a better understanding and appreciation of other people’s situations and have shared this with my colleagues, with the same lightbulb moment response.
Thanks so much for your support, advice, and guidance, Anindita!
