Goal Setting

Recently I attended an incredibly useful goal setting session on January 2nd 2024 facilitated by Dorinda Nartey and wanted to share my key takeaways from this evening event.

One of the key takeaways for me was realising the importance of tailoring our goals to our unique selves. I absolutely loved the exercise we did on the wheel of life, examining various areas such as work, intimate life, family/friends, self-care, and spirituality. It provided such a valuable opportunity for us to assess our current level of satisfaction in each area and set targets for where we want to be by the end of 2024.

Their advice on not trying to be an octopus and tackle everything at once was truly relieving. Focusing on what will make the biggest difference in our lives and using "I" phrases to take ownership of our goals really resonated with me. Additionally, reminding us of being aware of our hindering and helpful thoughts that can either prevent or support our progress was useful. It has given me a clear roadmap to move from intentions to actions.

I appreciated also the reminder about the importance of timelines and accountability. By regularly assessing my progress on a weekly and monthly basis with an expiry date, I will be able to stay on track and confidently say that I have achieved my unique goal(s) by the end of 2024.

I now feel less overwhelmed and more energised to kickstart 2024 with determination.
