What is the difference?

Supervision

Supervision is regular, protected time to reflect on your clinical work, keep your practice safe and build your skills.

Mentoring

Mentoring is guidance on your career and professional development, from someone who has been where you are heading.

What is the difference between supervision and mentoring?

Supervision is a regular, structured space to reflect on your work: your cases, decisions, ethical questions and your wellbeing as a practitioner. Many professional bodies expect practitioners to have it. Mentoring focuses on your development rather than your caseload, such as your career path, training applications, setting up private practice or stepping into leadership.

Who can have supervision with you?

Supervision is open to mental health professionals in clinical and educational settings, in the private or public sector, whether you work independently or within a team. It is also open to people who are not mental health professionals but whose work brings them into contact with students or staff experiencing mental health difficulties, such as staff in the education sector and safeguarding leads within organisations. Sessions are led by Dr Anindita Sarkar, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

How much does supervision or mentoring cost?

Individual supervision or mentoring costs £150 per session. Group supervision and mentoring are priced individually, depending on the size and needs of the group.
